Traveling with a Baby tips

Is it time to vacation? Are you thinking on getting away or for that matter whether to spend your time with your family on a ski resort or on a Caribbean Island? Virgin in fact is the perfect place to spend your vacation. Yes, the sunny Caribbean is a great place to be on a vacation with Kids. But keep in mind kids are aware of the fact that they are not home. They are aware of the fact that they are being ‘strangers not friends’. Therefore, to maintain their sanity they need a certain freedom. A certain space to breathe in. Unfortunately, most of the resorts will not give that to their guests. They will try to make you feel like you are king of the world when you are with your kids but at the end of the day, you are still the same ordinary parents that you always were.

However, that is not the case when you are travelling with your newborn baby. Yes, you will be with your baby most of the time and yes, you will need to be the sole caretaker for your little one. However, the time will come when you will realize that you are the parent that the child relies upon. It will become obvious as soon as you start worrying about your baby and start worrying about him or her getting presented with a accident. When you are worrying about that, you are not taking the time to teach your child how to be carefree.

Here are some tips that will help you care for your newborn without coming across as the worse half of the family.

  1. Get a room with a balcony. If you are one of those families that like to stay on ground level, get a room with a balcony. If the hotel hired a company who specializes in architectural design for home then should not be a problem. Also, it will give you something to do during the times when your child is not in the mood to sit still. To be on the safe side, ask the nice hotel for a room with one of those services like a baby monitor.
  2. Do not leave your baby in a car seat that is exposed to outside air. Once these seats have been used, they should not be anymore used. Also, it is not good for your child to be in the seats while the outside air is blowing on them.
  3. Make sure that you have a carafe for you to store the milk and the baby’s milk in. It will keep you from having to buy the milk from the neighborhood grocery store.
  4. Do not be concerned if you find that the neighborhood grocery store does not stock milk because they do not have a retail store open on the weekends. Before you leave the office, call the store and see if they have formula for your baby.
  5. Bring healthy snacks for the trip. Bring small crackers and granola bars.
  6. Bring toys and activities for the trip. Tetris, silly putty, coloring books and a king puzzle are some examples.
  7. Don’t be afraid to bring your baby’s favorite toys. Go ahead and bring them along for the trip. The rule is ‘ Species x yum yum ‘ and yum yum is the word for adults.
  8. Baby formula is recommended for your baby. The baby should be bottle fed for at least four to six months.
  9. You and the rest of your family will enjoy the trip to the point that you may not want to come back again.
  10. There will be lots of great pictures. Once you get back, double check to see if you have a digital camera or a digital camcorder. You will have lots of great pictures.

There are many ways to create wonderful vacation memories with a family that includes both kids and adults. A few years ago The Spectator Bangkok Airways named it the best family hotel of the year. If you are in Bangkok, you won’t want to miss this hotel if ever you are in it again.
